The Promise

of Presence

Matthew 28:20b

...And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

Daily Steps

After giving the new believer the absolute command of the Great Commission (Day 275), Jesus provides the ultimate guarantee that secures their peace and courage throughout the mission: the promise of His continuous, unending Presence.

The peace in this principle is found in guaranteed companionship:

  1. The Promise of Constancy: Jesus assures His followers: surely I am with you always. This promise dispels all feelings of loneliness, fear, or inadequacy (Day 273). When you are engaged in the Call to Mission, you are never alone; the King who holds all authority is your guaranteed companion (The Ultimate Presence, Day 212).

  2. The Scope of Time: The promise is not temporary but lasts to the very end of the age. This affirms the ongoing relevance and spiritual vitality of the Great Commission until Christ's return (Day 258). This unending assurance provides the necessary endurance (Day 257) for a life of discipleship.

  3. The Result is Courage: Knowing that the Son of God is walking alongside you in every act of teaching (Day 275), service, and evangelism (Day 274) fuels immense spiritual courage (Day 236). This guaranteed Presence transforms the mission from a human task into a powerful, divine work, securing the believer's joy (Day 261) and peace (Day 222).

Your peace is secured by guaranteed companionship. Embrace your Call to Mission today with confidence, knowing that the promise is absolute: surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

Reflective Question

In what specific moment of your day did you recently feel the most alone or inadequate? How can you intentionally recall and rely on Christ's promise, surely I am with you always, to transform that fear into courage and peace?

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I confess my doubt and the moments when I forget that I am not alone. I thank You, Lord Jesus, for the ultimate promise: surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. I pray for the faith to rely on Your constant Presence as I pursue the Call to Mission. Secure my peace today in Your guaranteed companionship and grant me the courage to teach and baptize in Your name. Amen.
