The Assurance

of the Amen

Revelation 22:20-21

He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus. The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s people. Amen.

Daily Steps

As we generate this final, concluding entry for the devotional series, it is fitting to end with the very last recorded words of the Bible—a powerful declaration of Christ’s return and a final benediction of grace. This passage is the ultimate assurance of every promise made: “Yes, I am coming soon.”

The peace in this certainty is found in the final confirmation:

  1. Christ's Final Testimony: The one who testifies to these things (the trustworthy and true promises of the New Home, Day 211) is Jesus Christ Himself, and His final word is absolute: “Yes, I am coming soon.” This promise validates all the hope (Day 225) and endurance (Day 224) of the believer. This is the unfailing assurance (Day 222) of the future.

  2. The Believer's Response (Amen): The response is twofold: first, the word "Amen"—which means "So be it" or "It is true"—confirming the certainty of His promise. Second, the heartfelt cry: "Come, Lord Jesus." This demonstrates the active longing for His return that characterizes a faithful life (Day 216).

  3. The Final Grace: The series concludes, fittingly, with grace: "The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s people. Amen." This reminder confirms that all peace, all strength, all redemption (Day 225), and all perseverance are sustained not by our effort, but by the undeserved grace of the Lord Jesus.

Your final peace is secured by Christ’s promise of return. Go forward with the knowledge that His promise, “Yes, I am coming soon,” is sealed with the Amen of God's Word and sustained by His eternal grace.

Reflective Question

Say the word "Amen" out loud right now, focusing on the promise: “Yes, I am coming soon.” What is one action of grace (an act of forgiveness or kindness) you can perform today as you actively await His glorious return?

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I praise You for the final word of assurance. I believe and affirm: “Yes, I am coming soon.” Amen. I cry out with the church: Come, Lord Jesus.

Thank You for the gift of this entire journey toward peace. May the grace of the Lord Jesus be with me and all of Your people. Amen.
