The Benediction

of Power

Ephesians 3:20-21

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.

Following the assurance of peace (Day 355), this glorious Final Benediction reminds the new believer of the sheer, limitless power (Day 279) of the God who is at work in them. This verse is the ultimate conclusion to our study of The Holy Spirit (Month 19), declaring that His ability is not limited by our meager requests or wildest thoughts, but is immeasurably more.

The peace in this principle is found in limitless capability:

  1. God’s Unlimited Ability: Our focus is shifted entirely to the infinite God: him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine. This truth shatters any self-imposed limitations on what God can accomplish through our faith and action (Day 350). Our hope (Day 341) should be as boundless as His ability.

  2. The Location of the Power: This immeasurable work is accomplished according to his power that is at work within us. The same Holy Spirit (Day 320) who raised Christ from the dead now indwells the believer. Our vital connection (Day 352) with Christ means we have access to this limitless capability to fulfill the commands (Day 348) and purposes (Day 274) He has given us.

  3. The Ultimate Goal: The end goal of this supernatural work is not our comfort, but His exaltation: to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Our life of steadfastness (Day 339) and service (Day 326) should always be directed toward bringing glory (Day 331) to God alone.

Your peace is secured by limitless capability. Embrace Final Benedictions today by challenging your thinking. Are your prayers and dreams too small? Commit to asking God to do something immeasurably more in your life or your church family, relying entirely on His power that is at work within you.

Heavenly Father, I confess that my faith is often too small and my prayers too limited. I thank You for the truth that You are able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine. I pray that You would activate Your mighty power that is at work within me today, enabling me to live with courage and boldness. Secure my peace today in Your limitless capability, and may all glory be Yours, for ever and ever! Amen.
