You Are the Temple of the

Holy Spirit

1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.

Daily Steps

As we conclude this week on identity, this verse delivers perhaps the most awe-inspiring truth: you are a dwelling place for God Himself. Your body—your entire self—is the temple of the Holy Spirit.

This reality radically redefines your self-worth and purpose. If your identity was merely your job or your relationships, you would constantly worry about performance.

But since the Spirit of God lives inside you, your body is holy, valuable, and set apart. You are not "your own"; you were "bought at a price"—the sacrificial love of Jesus.

The resulting call to action is to "honor God with your bodies." This doesn't just mean avoiding sin; it means valuing yourself the way God values you.

It means treating your physical and mental health with respect, because your life is a sacred space where God resides.

Embrace the peace that comes from this profound truth: you are never alone, and your intrinsic value is infinitely high.

Reflective Question

If you truly believed your body was a sacred temple for the Holy Spirit, what is one unhealthy or destructive thought or habit you would immediately release? How can you honor God with your body today?

Prayer

Holy Spirit, thank You for dwelling within me. Forgive me for forgetting that I am Your sacred temple and for sometimes treating my body and mind carelessly.

Help me to live with the deep respect and peace that comes from knowing I was bought at a high price and that I am never alone. May my life honor You. Amen.
