Let Go

of the Outcome

Jeremiah 29:11

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Daily Steps

Worry and the need for control often stem from a deep fear that things won't turn out well. We try to force our desired outcome because we doubt the future. This powerful promise from God is the antidote to that fear.

God is not aloof or careless about your future; He declares, "I know the plans I have for you."

This simple statement means you don't need to try and control the final result—the result is already being held and guided by the one who is all-knowing and all-loving.

His plans are designed "to prosper you and not to harm you," and to give you a genuine "hope and a future."

To find peace today, practice releasing the outcome. You can still plan and take action, but you do so with your hands open, entrusting the result to God's care.

When you remember that the Author of your life has already written the end of the story, you can let go of the control-seeking anxiety and walk forward in peaceful, confident trust.

Reflective Question

What is one outcome you are desperately trying to control right now? How can you verbally surrender that specific outcome to God, reciting this verse as your affirmation of trust?

Prayer

Lord, I confess that my worries reveal a lack of trust in Your goodness. I try to control the outcome because I forget that Your plans are better than mine.

Today, I surrender the final result of [Name the situation] to You. Thank You that Your plans are for my prosperity, hope, and future. Help me to rest in Your perfect knowledge. Amen.
