The Power
of Confident Rest
Matthew 11:28
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
Daily Steps
The burden of control is what makes you weary and burdened. When you feel responsible for managing every outcome, solving every problem, and steering every difficult relationship, life quickly becomes overwhelming. Control is a weight that only God is meant to carry.
Jesus offers a beautiful and radical alternative: rest. This rest is not just a break from work; it's a fundamental change in allegiance. When you "come to me," you are transferring your burdens from your shoulders onto His.
To find peace today, you must actively let go of the burden of self-reliance and receive the gift of rest offered by Christ. Control says, "I must fix this." Rest says, "Jesus has this, and I can stop striving."
It is the most profound act of surrendering control—the admission that you need a Savior, not just a suggestion. Stop trying to earn your peace through effort, and simply receive it through confident rest in Him.
Reflective Question
What "burden" or feeling of responsibility is currently making you weary? How can you mentally and spiritually "come to Jesus" right now and leave that specific burden at His feet?
Prayer
Lord Jesus, I am weary and burdened by the things I try to control. I confess my need for You. I come to You now and lay down the heavy weight of self-reliance and worry.
Thank You for the promise of Your rest. Help me to truly cease my striving and live with the lightness of knowing You are in control. Amen.
