The Power
of Perseverance
Galatians 6:9
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
Daily Steps
Living a life of faith requires perseverance, which is the determined, peace-filled refusal to give up, even when results are slow or invisible. For a new believer, the journey of faith will inevitably include seasons where you feel weary in doing good—where your efforts in service, prayer, or kindness seem fruitless.
This verse secures your peace by linking your present effort to a guaranteed future result:
The Struggle is Real: It acknowledges the reality of feeling "weary." Faith is often a marathon, not a sprint.
The Guarantee is Divine: The promise is that "at the proper time we will reap a harvest." The harvest is certain because God is faithful; the timing is in His hands.
Your role in living by faith is simply to "not give up." Peace in your future is secured by the knowledge that your acts of faith and service are not wasted. They are seeds planted in the ground, and your perseverance ensures you will be present to reap a harvest when God's timing is right.
Reflective Question
In what area of your life (a relationship, a spiritual discipline, a serving role) are you currently feeling weary in doing good? How can you commit to one more day of perseverance, trusting that the "proper time" for the harvest will surely come?
Prayer
Lord, I confess my weakness and weariness. I pray for the spiritual strength to not give up. I choose to live by faith today, trusting that my acts of goodness are seeds that You will cause to grow.
Fill me with Your peace that allows me to persevere patiently until the proper time for the harvest arrives. Amen.
