Remembers You
Psalm 103:2
Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits—
Daily Steps
When your daily mindset is clouded by worry or present circumstances, it's easy for the new believer to feel that God has forgotten them or that their current problems overshadow past blessings. This verse provides a specific, practical instruction for securing peace: forget not all his benefits.
The peace in this practice is rooted in intentional recall:
A Command to the Soul: The command is addressed to the very core of your being: "Praise the Lord, my soul." This means that generating peace and praise is an internal, spiritual decision, not just an outward act.
The Discipline of Memory: "And forget not all his benefits." God never forgets you (Day 96), but we are prone to forgetting His goodness. The word benefits encompasses everything God has done for you—salvation, provision, forgiveness, healing, and answered prayer. Peace is secured by actively calling these things to mind.
The Counter to Worry: Worry is a focus on potential future loss; peace is a focus on proven past provision. By intentionally counting God's past benefits, you anchor your mind in the unwavering truth of His faithfulness, which is the ultimate counter to present anxiety.
Your daily peace is secured by the spiritual discipline of remembering. When you feel forgotten, deliberately count the countless ways God remembers you and has blessed you.
Reflective Question
What is one specific, undeniable benefit (a healing, a provision, or a clear answer to prayer) that God gave you in the past? How can you consciously pause right now to praise Him for that single act, letting that memory secure your present peace?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I confess my mind's tendency to forget Your goodness when times are hard. I pray for the discipline to forget not all Your benefits. Help my soul to actively praise the Lord by remembering the countless ways You have provided for me, securing my peace in the unwavering truth of Your past faithfulness and Your present love. Amen.
