Call on Me
in the Day of Trouble
Psalm 50:15
and call on me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor me.
Daily Steps
When difficulty hits, the peace of the new believer is secured by knowing exactly where to turn. This verse is a clear, direct invitation from God Himself, establishing prayer as the immediate and necessary action during a crisis: call on me in the day of trouble.
The peace in this command is rooted in a three-part covenant:
The Invitation: "Call on me in the day of trouble." God doesn't expect you to handle your crises alone. He initiates the call, giving you full permission and encouragement to cry out to Him immediately when things go wrong. This invitation removes the anxiety of hesitation or feeling unworthy.
The Promise of Delivery: "I will deliver you." This is God's guarantee. While "delivery" may not always mean the instant removal of the problem, it guarantees a complete resolution according to His perfect plan—either by removing the trial or by providing the strength to overcome it.
The Result of Worship: "and you will honor me." The outcome of deliverance is always worship. When God brings you peace and relief, your natural, faith-filled response is to bring Him glory. This purpose ensures that your pain is never pointless.
Your peace in difficulty is secured by claiming this promise: when trouble arrives, you call; God delivers; and you honor Him.
Reflective Question
What "day of trouble" are you facing right now that requires you to stop trying to fix it and simply call on God? How can you commit to honoring Him in advance for the deliverance He will provide?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I confess that in my trouble, I often try every other solution before calling on You. I thank You for Your direct invitation. Today, I call on You in my difficulty, trusting Your promise to deliver me. I commit to honoring You when that deliverance comes, resting in the peace of knowing You are listening and acting on my behalf. Amen.
