Counting
Your Blessings
Psalm 103:2
Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits.
Daily Steps
The anxiety of worry often operates by making your problems seem large and your blessings seem small or invisible. It relies on your forgetfulness. King David, the author of this psalm, gives us a simple, actionable antidote to this trap: actively "forget not all his benefits."
To find peace and push back against worry, you must engage in the deliberate spiritual discipline of counting your blessings. Take time today to inventory God's benefits—His forgiveness, His healing, His redemption, and His constant favor (Psalm 103:3-5).
When you intentionally recall and name the good things God has done and is doing, your focus shifts from the chaos of your circumstances to the consistency of God's character.
Worry shrinks in the presence of overwhelming gratitude. The simple act of remembering and praising God for His past faithfulness gives you the necessary confidence to trust Him with your present worries. Don't let your soul forget the immense good He has provided.
Reflective Question
What "benefit" of God (spiritual or physical) have you recently forgotten or taken for granted? Take one minute now to list three specific ways God has been faithful to you in the last week.
Prayer
Lord, my soul is quick to forget Your goodness and focus on my anxieties. Forgive me for taking Your benefits for granted. Today, I intentionally praise You and recall Your faithfulness.
Help me to make the discipline of counting my blessings a shield against worry, so that I may walk in Your peace. Amen.
