Known

and Chosen

Psalm 139:1-2, 14

You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar... I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

Daily Steps

The struggle with identity often stems from the fear of being truly known—the anxiety that if people saw your flaws and secret thoughts, they would reject you. The peace of God's unconditional love begins with the truth that He already knows you completely.

This Psalm confirms that God has "searched" you and knows every detail, including your deepest thoughts and private habits.

The incredible peace is that His exhaustive knowledge does not lead to rejection; it leads to praise! The psalmist can still declare, "I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made."

To be fearfully and wonderfully made means your identity, even with all its imperfections, was intentionally and marvelously designed by God.

His knowledge of you is total, His acceptance of you is complete, and His love for you is without conditions. Rest in the knowledge that you are a known and perfectly loved masterpiece.

Reflective Question

What is one thing about yourself that you try to hide from others? How does the knowledge that God already perceives your thoughts and still calls you "wonderfully made" bring you peace today?

Prayer

Lord, You know me fully. Thank You that Your knowledge of me—when I sit, when I rise, and even my thoughts—does not lead to rejection, but to love. I praise You because I am Your intentional creation.

Help me to stop hiding and to find rest and peace in the beautiful, wonderful identity You have given me. Amen.
