Anchored
in Hope
Hebrews 6:19
We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain,
Daily Steps
When the future feels uncertain, your "soul" (your mind and emotions) can feel adrift, tossed about by fear and doubt. This verse provides one of the most powerful images of spiritual peace for the new believer: hope is an anchor.
An anchor is not used to see the storm, but to secure the ship in the storm. It keeps the vessel from drifting onto the rocks. Your hope is not wishful thinking; it is a firm and secure certainty rooted in God’s promises and the finished work of Christ.
The peace comes from knowing that your hope is fixed on something "behind the curtain"—meaning it is secured in the very presence of God in heaven, where Christ intercedes for you. Your peace is not tethered to your fluctuating circumstances, but to the unshakeable reality of God’s eternal promises. When the future brings uncertainty, drop your anchor and rest in the security of hope.
Reflective Question
What specific circumstance or future fear is causing your soul to feel adrift right now? How can you consciously visualize dropping your anchor of hope into the firm promises of God's Word to secure your peace?
Prayer
Lord, I confess my tendency to drift when the winds of uncertainty blow. Thank You for the gift of a firm and secure hope.
Help me to trust that my peace is anchored not to my circumstances, but to Your unwavering presence and promises behind the curtain. I rest my soul in the security of that hope today. Amen.
