A New Home
Awaits
John 14:2-3
My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.
Daily Steps
Anxiety about the future often includes a deep-seated fear of death or of being utterly alone. Jesus directly addresses this fear, providing immense comfort for the new believer by promising a personal, prepared, and permanent dwelling: a new home awaits.
The peace in this promise is deeply personal:
Prepared by Christ: Jesus explicitly states, "I am going there to prepare a place for you." Your future home is custom-made, secured, and guaranteed by Christ himself. This removes the uncertainty of where you will spend eternity.
A Personal Return: He promises, "I will come back and take you to be with me." You will not face the end alone. The one who promised your home will personally escort you there.
Permanent Presence: The ultimate destination is not just a place, but the guarantee that "you also may be where I am." Full peace is found in the certainty of Christ's eternal, loving presence.
When you feel anxious about the uncertain future or the final transition of life, rest in the secure, personal promise that Jesus is preparing your room, and He will return to bring you home.
Reflective Question
How does the promise of a prepared place and the certainty of Jesus personally coming back to take you to be with him diminish any current anxiety you have about the future or your security?
Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You for the profound comfort of Your words. I confess my fear of the unknown. Thank You that You are actively preparing a place for me and that You will personally come back and take me home.
I rest in the certainty that my future is in Your loving presence, and this truth brings me perfect peace today. Amen.
