Should a Christian Work on the Sabbath?
Christians are not bound by the specific Jewish Sabbath Law, as Christ is its fulfillment and the Lord of the Sabbath (Mark 2:28; Colossians 2:16–17). However, the Principle of the Sabbath—setting aside time for rest and worship—remains vital. Working becomes an issue when it prevents the Christian from fulfilling the command to meet together (Hebrews 10:25) and leads to spiritual burnout. Work of necessity or mercy is permissible, but believers should seek rest (Psalm 127:1–2).
