A Prayer Before Reading The Bible

A person sits in a wooden pew reading an open book, likely a religious text, creating a thoughtful and introspective atmosphere.

Dear Heavenly Father,

As I open your Word, I humbly ask that you would open my heart and my mind.

I pray that your Holy Spirit would be my teacher right now. Help me to not just read words on a page, but to truly understand the truth you want to speak to my life today.

Please set aside any distractions, doubts, or previous ideas I might have. Give me fresh eyes to see your love, your plans, and your goodness.

May this reading change me from the inside out. Help me to obey what I learn and put your Word into practice as I live out this day.

Thank you for this amazing gift of your written Word. May it be a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.

In Jesus name, I pray.

Amen.
