The Spirit and the
Fullness of God

and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

This final entry on The Work of the Holy Spirit presents the ultimate, grand purpose of the Spirit's indwelling: that the believer may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. This is the maximum spiritual potential for the Christian life, flowing directly from knowing and experiencing God’s boundless love (Day 218).
The peace in this principle is found in limitless capacity:
The Goal is Knowledge: Paul prays for the Ephesian believers to know this love that surpasses knowledge. Christ's love is a truth that is both intellectually understood (knowledge) and spiritually experienced. It is in the deep, experiential realization of His unfailing love (Day 218) that we find our true peace (Day 222).
The Ultimate Measure: This knowledge is the doorway to the ultimate goal: that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. The Holy Spirit (Day 320) is the only Agent who can fill us to this maximum capacity. This "fullness" is the complete righteousness (Day 308), wisdom (Day 297), and power (Day 279) of Christ flowing through our lives.
The Result is a Full Life: Being filled with the fullness of God is the practical reality of living a life of glorious liberty (Day 320) and purpose. It enables us to overcome the weakness of the flesh (Day 319) and bear the complete fruit of the Spirit (Day 317) for the common good (Day 318).
Your peace is secured by limitless capacity. Embrace The Work of the Holy Spirit today by asking to know Christ's love more deeply and praying to be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. This is the abundant, powerful, and eternal life offered to you.

If being filled to the measure of all the fullness of God is your spiritual goal, what is one attitude or action are you currently tolerating that is creating an unnecessary leak or limitation in your capacity to be filled?
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I confess that my vision of the Christian life is often too small and limited. I thank You for the ultimate promise that I can be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. I pray for the Holy Spirit to expand my capacity to know Your love that surpasses knowledge. Secure my peace today in this limitless capacity, and use my fully surrendered life to the praise of Your glory (Day 312). Amen.
